| CSCL Celebrates 10 Years Serving U.S. West Coast
China Shipping Container Line celebrated the 10th anniversary of its first West Coast calls with a commitment to customers to adjust to changing economic times in order to meet their service requirements.
Li Shao De, chairman and president of China Shipping Group, told an anniversary celebration in Los Angeles that the patterns of world trade and economic growth are changing, and carriers must adapt to these changes in order to meet customers needs.
This week marked the 10th anniversary of the arrival of the vessel Trade Apollo at the ports of Los Angeles and Seattle. The 2,500-TEU vessel was the first ship to participate in China Shippings newly inaugurated trans-Pacific service.
Today China Shipping operates 150 container vessels in its global network and carries about 500,000 TEUs annually. Vessel sizes range from 4,250 TEUs to 9,600 TEUs.
China Shipping over the past decade has grown to become one of the top 10 carriers in the global liner trades.
| WARTSILA LOW-SPEED ENGINES AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO EIGHT CSCL VESSELS
China Shipping Container Lines Co., Ltd. (CSCL), part of the China Shipping Group (CSG), has chosen Wartsila main engines for eight container vessels. The Wartsila engines for this order will be built under licence by Doosan Engine, Korea. Wartsila, the marine industrys leading ship power system integrator, will supply a package of support services for this order, which was placed in October. The ships are to be built at the Jiangnan Changxing ship yard in Shanghai.
"The low fuel consumption across many load parameters was the key technical reason to select the Wartsila common rail 2-stroke engine,"commented Mr Li Xueqiang, deputy GM of CSCL, who added: "This is a partnership with Wartsila forever. Service quality and engine performance are the most important facts for a successful partnership.
